Q: How is My Portrait Delivered, and When ?
A: We've been shipping artwork for more than a decade and know the best ways to do it:
Your finished portrait will be sent to you boxed or in a tube. If you have ordered a stretched canvas, your piece will be boxed. If you have ordered unstretched canvas or fine art paper, your piece will be carefully rolled and placed in a tube for delivery. Our standard shipping is by ground via one of the major common carriers. Expedited service is available for an additional charge -- Please note that request on your order. We package all our products with exceptional care.
Transit damage occurs in less than 1% of our shipments. Should any product arrive damaged, please save the packaging and e-mail or call us. We will request that you repackage it similar to the way you received it. We will then have the carrier pick it up from you within a few days, and we will repair or replace it once we receive it back. There will be no additional charges associated in the case of such a return/replacement.
Q: Who Owns the Copyright to the Artwork ?
A: The artist/publisher always owns the copyright to artistic creations:
As with all art forms, the artist and/or publisher retains the copyright and all rights of reproduction to the completed work. If you have a specific need to use one of our creations for another purpose, please contact us and we will happily discuss a usage fee/release. The commercial use or reproduction of created images is expressly prohibited without written permission. (It is under this same legal premise that we must require you to supply the written permission to create from any copyrighted works you may send to us).
We may use an image created for you as an example on our website or within other promotional materials of our own. If you do not wish your image to be used within Peabody Pet Portrait's promotional structure, please explicitly let us know when you place your order, so we can flag your order and honor your wishes.
Q: How Do I Care For My Portrait ?
A: There are things to do to add to your artwork's longevity:
Art On Paper: Any fine art reproduction on archival paper should be framed behind a U.V. protective glazing (either U.V. glass or UV acrylic). In addition, the artwork should be kept from touching the glazing, by means of matting or framespacing the surfaces away from each other.
Art On Canvas: If your art was printed on archival canvas, it should be stretched onto a stretcher bar. A canvas is not meant to be framed under a protective glazing. If you particularly desire to have your artwork protected under glass or acrylic, order it printed on paper.
Regardless of what your artwork was printed on, the first rule of protecting any fine art print is to hang it away from direct sunlight. Artwork will fade when exposed to any form of light, but will fade most rapidly when exposed to direct sunlight. Our portraits are printed on fine art canvas and papers, and the highest quality archival inks are used for longevity (rated for up to 80 years). And finally, each print is sealed with a fade resistant coating to improve the durability of the artwork. If properly protected, your artwork can last for many decades, but much less under extreme conditions.
Q: Can I Give a Gift Certificate ?
A: Absolutely. It makes a wonderfully unique gift:
Yes. Mr. Peabody believes that you cannot find a better gift for a friend or family member. A beautiful fine art pet portrait provides the personal touch for that special human. Let us provide the perfect presentation. You pick the dollar amount and we take care of the rest The personalized gift certificate will include your message. We will provide complete information to the recipient about the options available and how to submit their photos. What a perfect idea!
Q: Do You Offer International Shipping ?
A: We routinely ship overseas:
If you are outside the US, we recommend selecting the unstretched option on canvas (or choose fine art paper instead of canvas). Paper and unstretched canvas can be placed in a tube and shipped to you more cost effectively and safely. By providing us your full address, we will be able to email you an accurate shipping quote. Upon approval of the shipping quote, we will begin processing your order. If you do not agree with the quote, you may cancel your order at no cost.
Click on the 'Ordering' tab near the to of your screen for more international-related information under the 'International Purchases' section.
Q: Can I Reorder a Previously Created Portrait ?
A: We can reproduce any order in our database at any time:
Each order we create for you is saved in a database archive. This allows you to place an order at any time in the future. You can order the same design or use the image in a different style format. For example, if you want to take your original single pop art design and order a multi-image pop art, no problem.
Q: Can You Do People Portraits ?
A: We do people, cars, boats, houses, you name it:
Yes, Mr. Peabody knows that people also like to have their portraits done. So, the same ordering process applies. Follow the paw prints to make your design selection, complete the order form and submit your photo(s). It’s that simple. No discriminating against species. Everything that's important to you should have its own spot on your wall.
Q: How Do I Create the Best Images to Send ?
A: Here are some important guidelines:
The quality of your finished portrait will depend, to a large degree on the quality and size of the image(s) you can supply to us. Whether you are supplying the image(s) in the form of a photo print or as a digitized computer file, the quality, size and the resolution of the original image are key to being able to create an accurate enlargement. A very tiny section of a small photograph or a digital photo shot at a low resolution will blow up to be a very grainy and/or blurry 16" by 20" enlargement.
That having been said, here's the good news. Because we are artistically rendering your images into a different form, we can accommodate original images having somewhat lower resolution than if we were simply reproducing your image as a direct photographic enlargement. This means you have more original photos and snapshots to choose from. However, the rule still stands that the better the quality, the larger the size and the higher the resolution of the image you can provide, the better can be the appearance of your final portrait.
So here are some more specific guidelines:
Printed Photographs
We actually prefer photographs/snapshots, because that gives us control over the digital scanning, allowing us to scan at the resolution most appropriate to its ultimate enlarged size. Provide photos with the least blur. The blur enlarges along with the rest of the subject (the pet). Also look for photos where the subject itself is the largest. If the size of the subject is less than the size of a quarter, you should probably look for a larger photo.Digital Photos
Shoot your digital photos at your camera's highest resolution. Digital cameras usually have several resolution options so you can capture your images at the resolution appropriate to the image's ultimate use. Lowest resolution images are fine for use on the web, and also take up the least amount of the camera's memory space. Your camera's highest resolution will capture the most picture information, which is exactly what you want. The consequence of shooting at the highest resolution is that it takes up the most amount of your camera's memory space. The more space your digital photos occupy, the better is their opportunity for enlargement.Your digital photos can get quite large (several megabytes in size) making them poor candidates for email attachments. If you have the option, it would be best to 'burn' your digital image files onto a CDROM and send it to us via USPS. Please write your job id number on the CD so that there's no confusion.
If you have them, send more photos rather than less. Indicate to us your favorites. That will give us more options to choose from in case your single favorite just does not work well with the portrait style you like (difficulties like too many shadows, too much glare, insufficient contrast, etc.)
Also, click on the 'Sending Your Photos' button on any style selection/order page to see the photo submission criteria pertinent to that style.
A: Yes, because you're going to love it!
We are so confident from all the pleasant experiences with our customers, that we guarantee you'll like it. And if, for any reason, it does not live up to your expectations, simply repackage it in the same container it came in and mail it back to us for a full refund. But expect to hear from us, because we'll want to know if there's anything we can do to make your experience with us 'positively' memorable.
